1. Introduction
Bloom helps you record baby movement-counting sessions, review your history and personal rhythm, track weight entries, receive an optional daily reminder, and share summaries that you choose to create. Pregnancy, movement, and weight records may be sensitive. Bloom processes this information only to provide the features you choose.
Bloom is not a medical device, does not diagnose, assess fetal health, or recommend treatment, and is not a substitute for professional medical care. If you have concerns about movement or your pregnancy, contact your healthcare professional.
2. Information We Collect
Depending on the features you use and the information you choose to provide, we may collect or process:
- Profile and pregnancy information: Your name, the name you use for your baby, estimated due date, onboarding status, and related profile preferences.
- Movement records: Session start and end times, recorded movement times and types (such as kick, roll, or flutter), counts, and notes you add.
- Weight records: Dates, weight measurements in kilograms, and optional notes.
- Reminder preferences: Whether a daily reminder is enabled and the reminder time you select.
- Anonymous account information: A randomly generated Firebase Authentication user ID used to associate your synchronized records with your anonymous account.
- Purchase and subscription information: Product identifiers, transaction and subscription status, entitlement status, store information, and related technical information provided by Apple and RevenueCat. We do not receive or store your full payment-card details.
- Technical information: Firebase, RevenueCat, and Apple may process information such as IP address, device or operating-system information, app version, request information, and diagnostic or security data as needed to provide their services.
- Support information: The contents of messages and any other information you choose to provide when you contact us.
Bloom currently does not use third-party advertising or product analytics SDKs and does not read from or write to Apple HealthKit.
3. How We Collect Information
- Directly from you: When you complete onboarding, edit your profile, record movements or weight, add notes, configure reminders, purchase or restore Bloom Plus, share a summary, delete records, or contact support.
- Automatically through the App: When Bloom creates an anonymous Firebase account, synchronizes records, checks subscription access, or communicates with the service providers needed to operate the App.
- From service providers: When Apple, Firebase, or RevenueCat provides authentication, cloud synchronization, purchase, subscription, infrastructure, security, or diagnostic information.
4. How We Use Information
We use information to:
- Provide movement counting, history, personal rhythm, weight tracking, reminders, and sharing features.
- Save your preferences and restore unfinished or previous records.
- Synchronize your profile, preferences, movement sessions, and weight records under your anonymous account.
- Process purchases, restore transactions, and verify Bloom Plus access.
- Operate, secure, maintain, and troubleshoot the App and its supporting services.
- Respond to support requests and comply with applicable legal obligations.
- Protect our rights, users, and services from misuse, fraud, or security threats.
5. On-Device Processing
Bloom is designed as a local-first app:
- Local records: A copy of profile details, preferences, movement sessions, active session state, and weight records may be stored in the App’s local storage on your device.
- Local notifications: Daily reminders are scheduled and delivered by iOS on your device only after you choose to enable them and grant notification permission.
- User-directed sharing: Session or aggregate summaries are shared only when you choose a destination through the iOS share sheet. The selected destination processes the shared information under its own privacy policy.
- Cloud synchronization: When Firebase is configured and available, selected app records are also synchronized to Cloud Firestore under your anonymous Firebase user ID.
6. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell your personal data and do not use it to serve third-party advertising. We may disclose limited information to:
- Google Firebase: For anonymous authentication, Cloud Firestore synchronization, infrastructure, and service security.
- RevenueCat: For Bloom Plus purchase and subscription management. Your Firebase user ID is used as the RevenueCat App User ID.
- Apple: For App Store distribution, in-app purchases, payment processing, local notifications, and the system share sheet.
- Destinations you choose: When you share a Bloom summary with another app, service, person, or healthcare professional.
- Legal or safety recipients: When disclosure is required by law or reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety, users, systems, or services.
RevenueCat events may be sent to Firebase through an authenticated server connection so Bloom Plus access can be verified and kept current.
7. Data Retention
We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide Bloom, meet the purposes described in this policy, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, enforce agreements, or comply with legal obligations.
- Local app data: Remains on your device until you delete individual records, use Bloom’s deletion controls, clear the App’s data, or uninstall the App.
- Cloud records and anonymous account: Remain until you use the in-app option to delete your cloud and device data and anonymous account, request deletion, or the information is otherwise no longer needed.
- Purchase records: Apple or RevenueCat may retain transaction and subscription information for accounting, legal, security, or fraud-prevention purposes under their own policies.
- Support communications: May be retained as needed to respond to and manage your request.
Deleting Bloom or your Bloom data does not cancel an active subscription. Subscriptions must be managed separately through your Apple account.
8. Your Choices and Rights
- Optional information: You may skip optional profile fields and choose whether to add notes, weight records, or a due date.
- Notifications: You may enable or disable Bloom’s daily reminder and change notification permission in iPhone Settings.
- Sharing: You decide whether and where to share a generated summary.
- Record deletion: You can delete movement records, weight records, or all Bloom data using the controls available in the App.
- Account deletion: You can permanently delete your UID-owned Firestore records, local app records, and anonymous Firebase account from within Bloom.
Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to certain processing, or request a copy of your information. To exercise a right or ask for help with deletion, contact us and include your anonymous User ID when available so we can identify the relevant records.
9. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. Cloud records are organized under an anonymous user ID, and access rules are designed to restrict each user to their own records. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Children’s Privacy
Bloom is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information that should be removed, please contact us.
11. International Data Transfers
Our service providers, including Google Firebase, RevenueCat, and Apple, may process information in countries other than the country where you live. Information may therefore be subject to the laws of those jurisdictions. Where required, appropriate safeguards are used in accordance with applicable law.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to Bloom, our service providers, or applicable law. When we do, we will revise the effective date above and provide additional notice in the App when appropriate.
